Home Education Program Information Packet

The purpose of the Homeschool guidelines is to provide families with district policies and procedures to initiate and assume homeschool programming during students' educational tenure.

Summary of Homeschool Program Requirements

 

Homeschool Programming for New Students:

1. A notarized affidavit must be filed prior to the commencement of the Home Education Program.
2. A copy of the Home School Supervisors high school/college diploma must be submitted with the application. 
3. Evidence of health services is required for the appropriate ate and grade for the child(ren). 
4. Evidence that the student has received all required immunizations. A request for a religious exemption must be in writing.
5. Detailed written explanation of objectives for all academic standards (math, reading, science, social studies, health, physical education, and music) must be provided.
6. Students with disabilities- if the student has been identified as a child with a disability pursuant to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), written notice of approval of the home education program by a licensed clinical or certified psychologist or a Pennsylvania certified special education teacher must be provided with the affidavit.

Homeschool Programming Continuation:

1. A new notarized affidavit is required by August 1 (prior to the start of the new school year). 
2. Supervisor's high school/college diploma is required only if the supervisor has changed.
3. Evidence of health services is required for the appropriate age and grade for the child(ren). 
4. Evidence that the student has received all required immunizations. A request for a religious exemption must be in writing.

Annual Requirements to be Completed and Submitted:

1. The evaluator's certification stating that an appropriate education occurred for the school year under review. This certification is due to the Educational Services Center (ESC) by June 30th. 
2. End of the Year Program Compliance Letters- a letter will be mailed certifying successful completion of the school year once the program has been certified.
